Mangal Dosha is Mars sitting in particular houses at birth. This calculates Mars’s exact position and reports the house it occupies from your ascendant, your Moon and Venus — because schools differ on which reference point to use, and an honest answer shows all three.
The common North Indian reckoning flags Mars in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th from the ascendant. Some traditions count only from the Moon, others include Venus. This tool reports all three rather than picking one and hiding the others.
Classical texts list many parihara — cancellations. Mars in its own sign or exaltation, Jupiter or the Moon sharing its house, and certain ascendant-specific exemptions all reduce or remove the dosha. A flagged chart with three cancellations is not the same as a flagged chart with none.
Mangal Dosha is treated with more alarm than the classical texts warrant. It is one factor among many, it is frequently cancelled, and it is not a verdict on anyone’s marriage. Any tool that tells you otherwise is selling something.
